Entry with the ECZ Grade 12
No French body issues a binding equivalence — ENIC-NARIC France issues an attestation de comparabilité, and each university decides. Université Paris-Saclay accepts the ECZ Grade 12 for direct entry to the first year of a licence through the DAP, with no foundation year. Sorbonne University and Université Grenoble Alpes assess it the same way, file by file. Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 takes the DAP dossier blanc filed at the French embassy and asks for French at B2; the University of Lille accepts direct applications outside the procedure.
Medicine begins with the selective PASS or L.AS year. French, not English, is the binding condition: the TCF tout public with the written-expression module is compulsory for the DAP, and the usual way round it is a 9-month DUEF at €2,800–3,860 per year to reach B2. The student visa from Zambia
You lodge the file at the CAPAGO centre on Katima Mulilo Road in Lusaka, but the decision is taken by the Consulate General of France in Johannesburg; the embassy in Lusaka issues no visas. The visa is the VLS-TS étudiant, which doubles as your residence permit. Because Zambia is outside the CEF procedure you pay the full €99 rate, and CAPAGO adds service and passport-return charges that are not centrally published.
France-Visas’ general standard is 2–7 weeks; no Zambia-specific figure exists, and Johannesburg agents visit Lusaka monthly with a mobile biometric station, so allow longer. You must show resources of €877.50 per month. Biometrics are taken; no TB test and no medical are required.
