Study in Poland from Egypt
You can study in Poland in English for €2,000–6,500 per year at a public university. Your Thanaweya Amma qualifies through NAWA, but it needs an individual recognition statement first. You apply for the national visa in person at the Polish Embassy in Cairo, which charges US$235 in cash. The catch: that embassy does not accept Egyptian bank statements as proof of funds.
Is Poland a good choice from Egypt?
Poland is one of the cheaper English-teaching destinations in the EU. Public bachelor’s programmes are billed at €2,000–6,500 per year and public master’s at €2,500–7,500 per year for 2026/27, across 352 recognised institutions. Teaching in Polish is the norm, but every university on our list runs English-taught degrees, so you do not need Polish to enrol — you will need it to work outside a student job.
Poland hosted 108,609 international students in 2024/25, of whom 4,157 were African, so the Egyptian community you arrive into is small. The catch is not the fee level but the paperwork: your certificate needs a NAWA statement, and the consulate will not take a bank statement from an Egyptian bank. Entry with the Thanaweya Amma
The Thanaweya Amma is on NAWA’s list of qualifying documents, but it is not automatically recognised. You apply through the SYRENA system for a written statement from the Director of NAWA and send it to the university.
Since 1 July 2025 three things are required together: that statement, evidence of B2 in the language of instruction, and a pass in the university’s entrance examination. The University of Warsaw, Gdańsk University of Technology, Lazarski University and Jagiellonian University all state that Egyptian certificates need this individual statement; AGH University of Kraków adds a compulsory maths exam.
Egypt is not a Hague Apostille party, so your certificate takes the consular-legalisation chain — Ministry of Higher Education, then a MOFA ratification office, then the embassy — not an apostille. Arabic-medium schooling means IELTS or TOEFL in practice: common university floors are 5.5 for bachelor’s and 6 for master’s. Medicine in English is separate and costs €14,900–17,000 per year.
The student visa from Egypt
You need the National (Type D) visa. Egyptian applicants deal with the Polish Embassy in Cairo directly: it works with no commercial visa agency, there is no VFS centre, and the fee is US$235 in cash. The published decision time is 15 days from submission, extendable to 30 days in justified cases.
You must show PLN 17,650 in funds, and here is the corridor’s real obstacle: the Cairo post rejects Egyptian bank statements, so the money has to sit somewhere it will accept, or come through sponsor documentation it recognises. Sort out where your funds are held before you book anything else.

Tuition is the first line: €2,000–6,500 per year at public universities, €3,500–7,000 per year at private ones, €14,900–17,000 per year for medicine. Living costs run PLN 1,500–2,500 per month, higher in Warsaw and Kraków. Health cover through NFZ is PLN 55.80 per month once you are resident.
