Study in the UK from Morocco
The UK is reachable from Morocco, but no university we track accepts the Baccalauréat marocain on its own for first-year entry. Expect a foundation year at £16,995–26,000 per year before a bachelor's of £11,400–38,000 per year. Visa refusals are low, 1.8% (2025). The catch is that English, not French, is the entry test.
Is the UK a good choice from Morocco?
The UK is the rarer choice from Morocco, where 75,186 students abroad mostly go to French-speaking systems. Two figures argue for it. Student-visa refusals for Moroccan nationals are 1.8% (2025), the lowest of the nine origins we advise, and the Graduate Route gives 18 months of open work permission after a degree.
Against that, teaching is in English and Morocco is not an English-medium system, so a Secure English Language Test is usually part of the file, and French qualifications such as the TCF or DELF do not substitute.
The real cost is the extra year: the Baccalauréat national (Bac marocain) is not accepted for direct entry, so a bachelor’s means a foundation year at £16,995–26,000 per year on top of £11,400–38,000 per year of tuition. Entry with the Baccalauréat (Bac marocain)
University pages are consistent and blunt. Oxford lists the Moroccan Baccalauréat as not accepted for undergraduate entry; Imperial and Cambridge do not list it at all; King’s, Edinburgh and Warwick each require their own foundation programme. UCL offers the other route: one completed year of a Moroccan Licence with a high mention. Birmingham and Manchester accept the Bac into a foundation pathway, Manchester asking for mathematics and physics in science and engineering.
So your three options are a foundation year of 9 months, GCE A Levels or the IB taken in Morocco, or one year of a Moroccan Licence. English is evidenced by IELTS 6 for a bachelor’s and 6.5 for a master’s, at British Council centres in eight cities, from Casablanca and Rabat to Oujda and Tétouan.

The student visa from Morocco
You apply online on gov.uk, then attend the VFS Global UK visa application centre in Casablanca for biometrics. Processing takes 3 weeks as standard, or 5 working days with priority service (£500) and the next working day with super priority (£1,000).
The fee is £558, plus the health surcharge at £776 per year, charged separately for the whole visa. Funds decide the application: £10,539–13,761 on the basis of £1,171 a month outside London or £1,529 in London, for up to nine months, plus first-year fees, shown by 28-day bank statements or an official sponsor letter.
A TB certificate is required for courses over six months, and only Rabat has approved clinics, run by Dr Mandouri Ahmed and Dr Nadia Ben Saad. Appointments get scarce in the summer peak. Morocco is a Hague Convention country: diplomas are apostilled by the Wali or Governor, or online at apostille.ma, though the visa itself needs none. The UK bills in sterling, by academic year. Tuition is £11,400–38,000 per year for a public bachelor’s, £9,000–30,000 per year for a taught master’s and £45,000–70,000 per year for medicine; a foundation year adds £16,995–26,000 per year before the degree starts. Living costs run £1,171–1,529 per month.
Add the health surcharge at £776 per year and the £558 visa fee.
