Study Abroad Consultants in Zimbabwe: What We Do and Charge
We are study-abroad consultants for Zimbabwean students, and our core service costs you nothing: universities pay us a commission when you enrol. We shortlist, prepare applications and vet documents for 12 European destinations, from Germany's free public tuition to the UK's £558 student visa. We cannot promise admission or a visa, and no honest agent can.
What a study-abroad consultant in Zimbabwe should do for you
The work has four parts, and you can check each one. Matching: reading your ZIMSEC / Cambridge O-Level + A-Level results or your degree class against published entry rules, so you apply where you can be admitted — the home benchmark is ≥5 O-levels (incl. English grade C) + 2 A-levels; competitive UK courses typically want ZIMSEC A-level AAB–AAA.
Document vetting: reading transcripts, English evidence and bank statements before submission, not after a refusal. The visa file: knowing which counter decides your case, because Germany is handled at German Embassy Harare while Hungary, Poland and Austria are all filed in South Africa. Deadlines: German bachelor’s entry closes 15 July (winter) / 15 January (summer), and a missed date costs a full year.
A weak agent does none of this. It sends every student the same shortlist, forwards files unread, promises a visa it has no power to issue, and asks for a registration fee before any work begins. Ask any agent, including us, for the entry requirement, the deadline and the full fee in writing before you pay anything.
How World Study works with Zimbabwean students
Our core service is free to you. Universities pay us a commission when you enrol, and that funds the advice: a shortlist built around your grades and your budget, application preparation and submission, scholarship matching, and guidance on the visa file for each destination. You pay nothing for any of it and there is no registration fee. Where the money comes from, and where that leaves our incentives, is set out on our how we work page.
There is one paid option. Premium Placement covers hands-on visa filing, proof-of-funds structuring, interview preparation and arrival support. It is optional, an application can be completed without it, and the figure is published in advance on our pricing page — you see the price before you commit.
What we never do is tell you an application will succeed. If your funds fall short of €11,904 per year for Germany or £10,539–13,761 for the UK, we say so before you pay a visa fee rather than after a refusal. Bad news early is cheaper than bad news late, and it is the part of this job that agents paid on commission are least keen to do.
Where Zimbabwean students go — and what it costs
24,392 Zimbabwean students were abroad in 2023, and 3,598 of them were in Poland — the largest European group by a wide margin. Poland is also among the cheapest, at €2,000–6,500 per year for a public bachelor’s with many English-taught options. There is no Polish mission in Zimbabwe, so the €200 national visa is filed at Embassy of Poland, Pretoria.
German public universities charge no tuition, so your cost is living at €850–1,200 per month plus the blocked account. Bachelor’s teaching is mostly in German; master’s programmes are often in English. The visa is decided in Harare for €75, and timing runs: Usually ~4 weeks; can take up to 2–3 months.
The English-language routes cost more. The UK bills £11,400–38,000 per year and your A-levels give direct entry; you file at VFS Global Harare (Sam Levy's Village, Borrowdale) and Bulawayo (Rainbow Hotel, Saturdays only) and refusals run at ≈7–8% (2026). Ireland charges €9,850–27,000 per year and allows 24 months’ stay after a master’s, but the file goes through South Africa.
Two cheaper options reward studying in the local language: Italy, income-tiered at €200–4,200 per year with a €50 visa at the Embassy in Harare, and Türkiye at US$1,600–2,400 per year. Compare the total first-year bill, not the tuition line. Our Zimbabwe country guide sets the routes side by side.
Documents from Zimbabwe: the checklist we vet
Zimbabwe is not party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so certificates are authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Harare instead of apostilled. Build the file in this order.
- Certified school results — ZIMSEC / Cambridge O-Level + A-Level, graded O-Level A–C pass (D/E/U fail); A-Level A–E pass (O/U fail) — plus the degree transcript and class if you are applying for a master’s.
- English evidence. English is an official language here and medium-of-instruction letters are widely accepted, but many universities still set a test floor: IELTS 6.5 for a UK master’s, 5.5 for many Polish bachelor’s degrees.
- Money. Bank statements or a sponsor letter meeting the destination rule — €10,179.85 per year for Italy, PLN 17,650 for Poland. The thresholds are listed on our proof of funds by destination page.
- Passport valid across the whole course, and for the UK a TB certificate from IOM Harare Migration Health Assessment Centre, 10 Duthie Road, Alexandra Park at US$165.
Unexplained money is the failure we see most: a balance that appears three weeks before submission, from a sponsor with no stated relationship to you, reads as borrowed. We ask for the trail before you submit, because a consulate will ask for it afterwards.
Scholarships open to Zimbabwean students
Some famous awards are open to you and some are not, and knowing the difference saves an application cycle. Open to Zimbabwean applicants: Chevening for a UK master’s, DAAD for Germany, Erasmus Mundus joint master’s, Türkiye Scholarships, the Italian Government scheme and Austria’s OeAD grants. Restricted — open in principle, narrowed in practice by field or institution — are France’s Eiffel programme and Spain’s MAEC-AECID awards.
Closed to Zimbabwe: Commonwealth Scholarships, Stipendium Hungaricum and Poland’s Banach NAWA programme. Domestic funding does not travel either — ZIMDEF and the Cadetship Scheme support training inside Zimbabwe, not study abroad. So your realistic funding is one of the open schemes, a family or diaspora sponsor, or self-funding. Deadlines and eligibility detail sit on our guide to scholarships for Zimbabwean students.
How to spot a fake agent in Zimbabwe
Three patterns are running now. First, agents charging “application services” for Commonwealth Scholarships and Stipendium Hungaricum, both of which are closed to Zimbabwe — the fee buys a form that cannot be accepted. Second, recruitment networks on WhatsApp and social media using real university branding, which collect a processing fee and then go silent; a harsher version offers a fully funded place in Cyprus, then demands large payments on arrival, with detentions reported.
Third, people claiming to be the British Embassy in Harare or to process UK visas directly. The Embassy states publicly that it does not process visas — VFS Global does — and that it cannot confirm visa status by phone or email. Pay fees only to the university or the official visa operator, never in cash to a middleman. More warning signs: how to spot a fake agent.
What we don't do
- We do not guarantee admission or a visa. Those decisions belong to universities and consulates; the UK refuses ≈7–8% (2026) of Zimbabwean student applications.
- We do not arrange, edit or “improve” documents. A forged bank statement or sponsor letter earns a refusal and can carry a multi-year ban.
- We do not charge for the core service and we take no registration fee.
- We do not push a university because its commission is higher, and we will say when a cheaper course suits you better.
- We are not the right fit if you want a promised scholarship outcome or someone to sit an English test for you.
Core guidance is free and funded by university commission: shortlisting against your grades and budget, application preparation and submission, scholarship matching, and a document check before anything is filed. Premium Placement is optional and openly priced for hands-on visa work. We vet every file before submission, because the cheapest refusal is the one that never happens.
Frequently asked questions
Our core service is. University selection, application preparation and submission, scholarship matching and visa guidance cost you nothing, because universities pay us a commission when you enrol. Only Premium Placement is paid, and its price is published before you commit. An agent charging a registration fee before any work starts is charging you twice.
Universities pay a commission when a student who came through us enrols. That is standard in international recruitment and it is why the core service is free. It also creates a risk worth naming: an agent can favour whichever university pays more. Ask us which universities pay us, and compare our shortlist against the fee pages yourself.
No, and no agency can. Consulates decide. For Zimbabwean applicants the UK refuses ≈7–8% (2026) and Ireland ≈8.72% (2024) of applications. What we can remove are the avoidable grounds: thin funds evidence, an unexplained sponsor, a missing TB certificate, documents that contradict each other.
All twelve we cover: Germany, the UK, Ireland, Malta, Cyprus, Hungary, Poland, Türkiye, Spain, France, Italy and Austria. Poland holds the largest Zimbabwean group in Europe at 3,598 students. Germany, Poland and Italy are cheapest on tuition; the UK and Ireland are the direct English-language routes.
No. Zimbabwe is not on the eligible list for either, and Poland's Banach NAWA programme is closed too. Agents still sell application help for all three. What is open to you: Chevening, DAAD, Erasmus Mundus, Türkiye Scholarships, the Italian Government scheme and Austria's OeAD grants. Put your time into those.
Certified ZIMSEC / Cambridge O-Level + A-Level results, degree transcripts where relevant, a passport valid across the course, English evidence, and bank statements or a sponsor letter meeting the destination threshold — €11,904 per year for Germany. Zimbabwe does not issue apostilles; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Harare authenticates documents instead.
Plan about twelve months for a 2027/28 intake. Offers take weeks to months, then the visa adds its own time. Germany: Usually ~4 weeks; can take up to 2–3 months and Austria 15 calendar days from submission of a complete application. Files routed through Pretoria need appointment lead time on top, which is the part students underestimate.
We tell you before you spend money. If your grades miss the entry bar we look at a foundation route, a different country or a later intake. If a visa is refused we read the refusal notice, fix the specific ground — usually the funds evidence — and reapply where that is sensible. We do not re-file the same application unchanged.
