Hungary applies one statutory test: a school-leaving qualification that admits you to university at home. For Zimbabwe that is ZIMSEC / Cambridge O-Level + A-Level from ZIMSEC. Your 13 years of schooling clear the University of Pécs fallback of twelve or more years granting higher-education access, though Pécs still reviews each file case by case, as do Corvinus University of Budapest and Eötvös Loránd University.
The Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE), Óbuda University and Semmelweis University run a direct route. Entrance examinations decide more than grades: a written mathematics paper at Corvinus, biology plus chemistry at every medical faculty. The student visa from Zimbabwe
You apply at the Embassy of Hungary in Pretoria: Hungary has no mission in Harare, so the route runs through South Africa and you travel for biometrics. The fee is €110; confirm it when you book, because the embassy’s published fee table dates from February 2025. The embassy’s standard is 15 working days, or 30–60 in special cases, so book at least six weeks ahead, and two to three months ahead in peak season.
Hungary sets no fixed proof-of-funds sum and uses no blocked account; you evidence means with a bank statement, a sponsor letter or a scholarship award. TB screening happens after arrival. Hungary wants an apostille, but Zimbabwe is not a Hague party, so documents are legalised through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Harare instead.
